Bindings for my 2016 challenge build... Opinions needed.

I want opinions on wood binding...

Click the thumbnails for full size...

For reference, here is the top and back. White Kermodie Lutz/mystery Hormigo back and sides. Rosette is leopard wood.

Opinion time guys....
What binding material do I go with?
Choices are curly oak, maple, walnut, cherry, and leopard wood if I can find a piece in the wood stash.

I wet the side and the binding a bit to try and show the color better.

I agree, the oak. The curl makes it.

The oak looks nice... The walnut also looks nice and should be easy to bend...

I'm liking the oak, as well! Makes me think that I should make some, too.

Oak or walnut. Can I vote for two?

+1

I like the contrast of the maple though.

Lol... So bind the top with oak and the back with walnut ;)

Sounds like Cherry is definitely out... Too close to the color of the sides.

We are at oak or walnut and maybe maple. ;)

If the walnut was curly I would vote for that.

I suppose I could ebonize the oak with iron filings tea...

If the color shown in the pictures on my tablet is true I would say the tone of the oak doesn't really go with the side color tone. I like the flame but one seems more yellow and the other more red. For that I would go with the walnut. But then again that is assuming the picture and display show the true colors which is often not the case.

The oak might work with a side purfle of walnut to give it some separation from the side.

Walnut it is for all the contrast and color reasons stated by you guys.

The oak was brownish white oak - but it still has that green cast of white oak. If it was red oak - it would have the red cast and I think it would have worked out better.....

Thanks

I usually have nothing to contribute to these discissions but contrast is needed for the Hormingo so Walnut is the only possibility but thinking larger I think Bloodwood would be great looking and provide the contrast needed, no quilt needed with Bloodwood, or Walnut for that matter.
